Dave Lyne and Ian Horrocks had a few hours on the river on Christmas Eve (Time off for good behaviour?)
Dave was catching small fish fish all morning from various pegs in the Prebendal field and Ian had four chub – three around a pound and a half each and then this one from peg 52. 5lb 30z and in super winter condition.
Dave went back for a couple of hours on Boxing Day and had another one off peg 48. 4lb 3oz.
The river was slightly up on normal and had a brown cloudy colour.
I set up a waggler on a peg between the Crendon Road Bridge and the By-pass bridge. Fishing slightly under depth with maggot as bait and a regular feed of loose maggots I started to catch a number of small roach and bleak. After about 40 minutes the float went under and I felt a strong pull on the rod.
On the last match of the season Martin Chown fished peg 46 in the laundry field and recorded the best winning weight for a number of years.
