Hi everybody,
The match result is as follows from July 9th 2017.
We had 12 anglers attend our first match of the season with 3 new members taking part as well which is always nice to see. The river looked good on Saturday when Nick and I pegged it, with the largest amount of fry and juvenile fish of all species I have ever seen in our river. The basin, peg 61, looked more like an aquarium than our River Thame. We spotted some larger Chub feeding in the flow opposite Cuttlebrook too.
Any way here they are:
1st place Dave Lyne in peg 53 with 7lb exactly. This was mainly Dace, Roach and Chub. Some of the Dace were getting on to 1/2lb. I also had a Blade Bream in that net of fish.
2nd place went to Tony Sexton in peg 42 with 4lb 6oz. Tone had mainly Dace and Roach.
3rd place was Nick Newitt in peg 63. Nick fished wag and mag for 3lb 8oz 8dr mainly Roach. Nick did have some Rudd in there as well.
4th came Dave Wollington in peg 65 with 3lb 2oz 8dr. I think Dave had Dace and Roach.
5th place was Keith Nash in peg 47 with 3lb 1oz. Now Keith probably would have won the match had it not been for the mass of Ladies distracting him on the Old Crendon bridge making him miss the bites.
Just forced into 6th place was Lester Backshall from peg 37a with 3lb 0oz 8dr.
7th place came Dick Martin in peg 56 with 1lb 15oz. Dick had Dace and Roach.
8th Joe Gleeb in peg 66 with 1lb exactly.
9th Steve Dutton in peg 54 with 12oz. Steve’s first match!! Hope to see him again.
Joint 10th came Ian Horrocks, Terry Wilde and Roger Smith. These lads did not weigh in but threw back about a pound each.
So there you have it, the first match of the season fished on a hot and very sunny day.
Kind regards and tight lines, Dave.
